We offer Modern classes from reception age starting with Primary modern. Following the Imperial Society of Teacher of Dance (ISTD) Syllabus, students can work towards examination. Modern dance is a rhythmic dance style rooted in musical theatre. It is often seen in musical productions and is known for its dynamic theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps and turns which all need strength and flexibility. Our classes teach these skills as well as discipline, team work, co-ordination, good posture, musicality and allowing student to build confidence and perform.
Primary Modern is aimed at students aged 4-5 (Reception age), although they are only eligible to take the examination from age 5. Examinations are not compulsory and students are able to move up without taking an exam when they reach they required level. They would join Grade 1 from age 6.
